About Us
The Lowbrow Reader is a slim magazine of and about comedy. We claim to
be a quarterly but have only published 6 issues since 2001. That's pathetic!
But we've been happy with those issues, which have included contributions
from Johann Sebastian Bach, Jonathan Richman, Neil Michael Hagerty, Lee Hazlewood,
Doreen Kirchner, Michaelangelo Matos and a ton of other fine writers, cartoonists
and comedians. We've written about Billy Madison, Owen Wilson, Slim Gaillard,
Howard Stern, Harpo Marx, CAR-toons magazine, and all three of the Three Stooges.
We're based in New York City but available at smart stores all around.
The Lowbrow Reader is edited by Jay Ruttenberg and designed by Matthew
Berube. A very special sixth issue is now available.
